Today was an interesting day -- all the elementary schools had the day off so it was just Liam and I for most of it. We went out looking for a new pair of shoes for him but came up empty handed in that regard. We did snag a copy of the Deal or No Deal board/electronic game at Target for $7.48 so Liam wasn't too unhappy about spending some of the morning shopping. (It's really a cute game and we've had fun this afternoon playing it.) I also helped him make a cake which is cooling right now or I'd share photos of that too.
I still haven't been to the grocery store (though I HAVE to go tomorrow) so we ended up with the last thing in the 'fridge -- ravioli. This was a grilled chicken and mozzarella ravioli that we bought a Costco earlier in the week and while it wasn't the best I've ever had, it was decent enough.
Many years ago I purchased a bunch of the Frugal Gourmet's cookbooks and one of his "things" to do with ravioli was lightly fry it in a little olive oil and serve it with blue cheese dressing. I know, I know, sounds weird, but it WORKS. If you're going to do it, though, make sure to get enough color on the ravioli that they're on the crispy side. That with a large salad made another quick, easy dinner. (Always a plus.)
And with ravioli being pasta, this can also be my submission to Presto Pasta Night over at Ruth's Once Upon a Feast. Recently it has seemed I've submitted mostly red sauced pasta so I'm glad to be a little different tonight.
How did we rate it? Don, a 3.5, Adrienne and I agree on a 3, Liam didn't like it at all (and ate a bagel with cream cheese along with an apple), and Travis abstained again being not hungry. Travis is in the robotics club at school and needs to stay until 5pm (after being there since 6:30am -- long day). Anyway, one of the Juniors has been making fast food runs and he's been eating a hamburger from wherever they go. Final rating for tonight? I'll give it a 3.
Wow, very inventive use of ravioli. Thanks for sharing with Presto Pasta Nights.
